Skyports acquires Redbird Aero Australia

Acquisition supports healthcare, logistics, and infrastructure inspection across rural and remote region
Skyports Expands Global Footprint with Australian Entry
Skyports Drone Services, a global leader in drone delivery and inspection, has announced the acquisition of Redbird Aero, a top large cargo drone operator in Australia. This move marks Skyports’ official entry into the Australian market and aims to boost the use of uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) for logistics, healthcare, and infrastructure services.

“With this acquisition, Skyports is expanding our reach and bringing our experience in drone services to a new and important region,” said Alex Brown, Director of Drone Services at Skyports. “As an Australian, I’m incredibly excited to be expanding into the Australian market. The potential for drone delivery and inspection services in Australia is huge due to its unique geography.”

Skyports plans to launch its first operations in Australia in June 2025. The company is working with partners from ACS Group’s subsidiaries, including CPB Contractors and Sedgman, to begin construction monitoring and asset inspection services.
Supporting Critical Services in Remote Communities
Redbird Aero has built a strong reputation for supporting rural and remote Australian communities through drone logistics. Its focus has been on developing large cargo RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) over 150 kilograms and working with regulators to create safe and scalable operations.
By joining forces, Skyports and Redbird aim to improve healthcare access and supply chain resilience across challenging environments. The services will include drone delivery for medical supplies, waterway monitoring, linear asset inspection, and real-time surveillance in areas that are hard to reach.

“Skyports’ extensive experience and attitude to safety make it the ideal partner to fulfil Redbird Aero’s mission in helping, serving and protecting people in regional and remote parts of Australia,” said Scott Wheeler, Redbird Aero’s Founder and former CEO. Wheeler will now lead Skyports’ drone services in the Asia-Pacific region.
Backed by Global Investment and Local Presence
Skyports’ expansion into Australia builds on the Series C investment made by ACS Group, a global infrastructure and services company. ACS Group has a strong presence in Australia and has enabled Skyports to connect with several local partners to quickly deploy their drone technology.
The new services will bring Skyports’ international drone expertise to local industries. These include healthcare providers, infrastructure owners, and government agencies, offering new tools to improve connectivity, safety, and efficiency.
Skyports Drone Services continues to grow its global operations, now adding Australia to its expanding list of active regions. With a strong base provided by Redbird Aero, Skyports is well-positioned to help modernize logistics and inspection services across the country.
