Terra Drone Toshiba Partnership for UTM

Agreement Marks Strategic Collaboration in Advanced Air Mobility Technologies
Terra Drone Corporation, a drone and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) technology company based in Japan, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation. The partnership aims to expand their Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Traffic Management (UTM) and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) businesses.
Terra Drone has introduced ‘Terra UTM,’ a sophisticated UTM system designed to accurately determine the location of drones under its management. With the increasing use of drones in various applications, the enhancement of these systems is crucial. Terra Drone has furthered its UTM business through strategic investments in Unifly NV, a leading UTM technology provider in Belgium, and Aloft Technologies Inc., which holds a significant share of the UTM market in the United States.

Meanwhile, Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation specializes in C-UAS solutions, integrating various sensors and response measures to detect and respond to suspicious drone activities. The technical collaboration between Terra Drone’s Terra UTM and Toshiba’s C-UAS solutions aims to develop sophisticated systems to prevent incidents and accidents resulting from collision risks and unauthorized drone incursions. This collaboration is timely as the social integration of drones, particularly in urban logistics, is accelerating.
The partnership signifies a commitment to establishing a society where drones can operate safely and securely. Both companies are dedicated to contributing to the safe and secure operation of drones, enhancing air mobility infrastructure, and addressing emerging threats in the evolving airspace.
